    Junkyardkid's Best Songs of 2010

It has been a pretty interesting year in finding new music. Here are my 10 favorite songs from 2010 - the year Sufjan Stevens decided to use auto-tune.

    10. Kylie Minogue - Get Outta My Way
My favorite dance pop track of the year. Catchy as hell, I had this song on repeat for days.
    Listen

    9. Beach House - Zebra
Any way you run, you run before us.
Dark and haunting. One of the tracks that stood out when I was shuffling through my recent downloads.
    Listen

    8. Cee-Lo - Forget You/Fuck You
I guess he's an Xbox and I'm more Atari.
    A middle-finger song disguised as a sunny '60s Motown track - genius.
    Listen

    7. Marina and the Diamonds - I Am Not a Robot
Better to be hated than loved loved loved
    for what you're not.
I don't know what's with the fascination with robots this year (Fembot, The Girl and the Robot) but I'm digging the energy on this song.
    Listen

    6. Stornoway - Zorbing
So electrifying, Oh im nearly flying
lost my heart between the sheets of lightning.
Opening song on the soundtrack of my life.
    Listen

    5. Jonsi - Boy Lilikoi
Use your eyes, the world goes and flutters by
Use your eyes, you'll know you are
I am in love with the folky fantasy atmosphere of this track. I am now convinced that if you go through the back of your closet you either end up in Narnia or Iceland.
    Listen

    4. Sufjan Stevens - Futile Devices
And when I sleep on your couch I feel very safe,
and when you bring the blankets I cover up my face.
Compulsory pensive track for the nightly commute.
    Listen

    3. Vampire Weekend - White Sky
Basically everything from Contra, actually. This song and Horcahata are my two favorite tracks off the album.
    Listen

    2. Freelance Whales - Generator ^ First Floor
We're finding everyday several ways that we can be friends.
If you haven't noticed, I have a thing for quirky-sounding indie bands. You know, the ones who fill the verses with repeating syllables (eh-eh-eh-eh, uh-ah-oh oh-oh-ooh) that make no sense at all. Curse that music critic who compared Freelance Whales to Owl City.
    Listen

    1. Robyn - Dancing On My Own
So far away but still so near,
but you don't see me standing here.
I just came to say goodbye.
The story of my life told in four minutes and fifty seconds.
    Listen

Songs that almost made the cut:
    Josh Ritter Change of Time
    Tunng Hustle
    Ellie Goulding The Writer
    Seabear Arms
    Glee Teenage Dream
    2NE1 Go Away*

    * LOL no judging

    2. Marina! Love!!!

I thought there'd be more Glee songs but then again, the songs this season weren't that overwhelming. ;)

    4. citybouy: i know, not digging Glee's sophomore run. But I did enjoy Santana's Valerie last week. That was amazing.

thysz: It was originally included in the top ten, but it got bumped when I added Freelance Whales (I thought Weathervanes was released 2009) LOL
